Weekly Open Level Pronunciation Classes in New York City
These classes are offered as a series of 4 weekly lessons, open to new students at the beginning of each month. A new series will begin on the first Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday of every month, unless the first Saturday is a holiday weekend.
The next 4 lesson series is Part D of the Popenoe Method basic pronunciation course. The full course is divided into 4 parts, and can be completed in 4 months.
You can start the course at the beginning of any month, and continue through the next 3 months to complete the whole curriculum.

This class is an ongoing open level class, which means that new students can join every month, take time off after any series, and return again at the beginning of a new series. As we follow the Popenoe Method pronunciation curriculum through the 4 month cycle, we will work on all aspects of pronunciation in a way that benefits everybody in the class. Pronunciation is a physical skill, and all students, beginners or advanced, can benefit from repeated practice. Think of this as an open level exercise class for the mouth.
Please bring a notebook, pen, and small mirror.
Additional materials will be provided.
Audio recording is permitted, but no video recording please.
Cancellation up to 48 hours in advance of the first class for full refund minus Paypal fee. No refund after the session has begun.
If you miss a class during the series, there will be no refund and no carry over credit to the next series.
If you're not familiar with the Popenoe Method of pronunciation training, please read the material on this website, and take a look at the video lessons. If you have additional questions, please feel free to reach me through the contact page.
Video Lessons over the Internet
While I have been working for American companies for 15 years, taking Josh's four month group class turned out to be very helpful for me.
• With improved pronunciation, I feel much less hesitant in jumping into discussions in English with native speakers.
• My ears are more sensitized to the sound of English, so my listening comprehension has improved significantly as a result.
• Conference calls at work are much easier to deal with - both talking and listening.
• It became easier to memorize new words and idioms, as their pronunciation comes to me very vividly.
• On top of all this, there appears to be an aesthetic side benefit to the facial lines as the muscles around the lips need to be exercised quite extensively.
